The topic of this year’s blog hop is “Watercolor”. I guess a lot of you have taken the Online Card Class last year and I think it’s time to dust off the skills that we learnt there. And even if you haven’t taken the class, using watercolor is easy and fun. So, come and play along!

I’m kicking off this weekend’s festivities on my blog with this bright and shiny card. I started by stamping a grid onto watercolor card stock and then heat embossing it with white embossing powder. This way I could ensure that the grid would always stand out against the color that that I was using.

I wet a section of the grid with my brush, simply by adding a little bit of water and making the surface wet. Then I used a tiny amount of color to drop into the wet area. It spread by itself, pulled by the water. The colors I’m using are the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. They are super intense and creamy and went just perfectly on this card, but you can of course use any water color you like.
While that was drying, I colored my little submarine from the German stamp company Create A Smile and then fussy cut it. I put some Glossy Accents on the windows and sprinkled a little bit of glitter onto the glue while it was still wet. The sentiment and the bubbles behind the boat were heat embossed with gold embossing powder onto my watercolor panel after the water itself had dried.

Clik here to view. and of course, I need to add some Pretty Pink Posh products to this card in honor of her blog hop. They are hard to see, but I glued some clear seed beads onto the card to mimic bubbles rising from the boat to the surface of the ocean. Since they are clear, they take on the color of whatever is behind them. That wasn’t even intended on my part but it is a neat side effect.
